The Gloom – “Æons” and “Lay Down”
The Gloom is an Alternative rock solo project led by Israeli producer and musician Yoav Landau. The Gloom’s layered, atmospheric take on Rock music contains a variety of influences including Post-Punk, Grunge, Shoegazing, College Rock, Art-rock and Post Rock.
All of The Gloom’s music is independently recorded and produced by Landau, Tal Eshel & Nitzan Oppenheimer and it’s distributed through the latter two’s indie label, Belum.
All of the artwork is designed by Landau and collaborator Roy Balbirsky.
The Gloom’s Debut, self-titled EP was released June 2019, and mixed analog to-tape by Assaf Tager (Elliott Smith, Katamine) and Mastered by Howie Weinberg & Will Borza (Nirvana, The Cure, Pixies).
It’s leading track, Lay Down, deals with the concept of death from an abstract perspective and features the six-string bass (Bass VI) as the main lead instrument.
Æons is The Gloom’s first commercial single. It’s an apocalyptic love song, written as the words of a man to his lover while standing on the brink of mass extinction caused by a meteor crashing into Earth.
Musically, it’s influenced by the Pixies, New Order, the Jesus & Mary Chain and My Bloody Valentine. It was mixed by Omry Amado and mastered by Simon Heyworth (Depeche Mode, Mike Oldfield).
The Gloom is on radio rotation with the tracks – “Æons” and “Lay Down”.
