Jared Dylan – “Justified”

New Jersey native, Jared Dylan has already amassed a library of hundreds of original compositions and millions of streams. Before leaving for college at University of Miami’s Frost School of Music’s Bruce Hornsby Creative American Music Program, Jared drew the interest of producer Anthony Resta (Elton John, Collective Soul, and Duran Duran etc.), which resulted in Jared’s first EP, “In Panic”. His recent work also garnered the attention of some of the industry’s most notable writers and producers, having songs mixed and remixed by talents such as Danny Saber (David Bowie, Madonna, The Rolling Stones), Carmen Rizzo (Coldplay, Seal, Alanis Morissette), and Fonogenic Studios (Juliette Lewis, Kris Kristofferson, Micky Dolenz).

Good things almost always result when an artist knows his strengths. On “Justified”, the hotly anticipated new single by Jared Dylan, everything is so fully, completely, and perfectly in its right place. This is guaranteed to send a chill up the spine of anyone who loved his previous work, as well as newcomers to the fan fold.

Dylan has capitalized on his emotional register, encapsulating whole worlds of apprehension, desire and angst. Plus, Dylan uses his voice to effect. Its wide-ranging architecture fleshed out with a constantly evolving palette of sonic details, as shudders of raging vocal currents grab center stage.

All the way through “Justified”, you’ll know Jared Dylan is not using his voice for simple intonation to seem deliberate, it’s meaningful. His crushing chorus is so determined to release tension that its melody plunges you deep into the narrative of compromise and legitimation in the name of love.

Clever songwriting flourishes makes the song resonate even more than it does already. Dylan sounds bigger and bolder than he ever has before, within a custom built, piano-driven soundscape on the verge of explosion. The guitar, bass, drums, the strings, it all has the perfect blend on this song.

“Justified” is so real, raw, and relatable to everyone, showing us, and his entire fandom that Dylan was not messing around with this single. Dylan should be basking in the glory of his most honest self, as his voice conveys the genuineness and sincerity found in his lyrics.

As the song comes to a close there is a lingering note that leaves listeners wanting more. “Justified” bleeds with maturity, and extends Dylan’s reach as a singer and songwriter who has the firepower to become exceedingly valuable to this generation of modern pop.

For an artist testing the limits of his sound and pushing the boundaries of his songwriting, “Justified” is the perfect track for Dylan to have in his arsenal. Full of raw-throated emotion, it is one of the most powerful songs in his discography.

Dylan is clearly blooming as an artist, and “Justified” shows not one single flaw from beginning to end.  It’s a confident step forward that could very well usher in a new and bigger phase of Jared Dylan’s career.
