Dejhare – “Trust My Love”
Dejhare (pronounce deɪ-Jhar) has travelled extensively, having lived and worked on four continents, and her life story reflects this diversity, crisscrossing a whole spectrum of experiences. She has always been drawn to creativity and self-expression, loving the idea of using music as a canvas on which to draw our life stories, and on which to share the happiness, the hopes and the frustrations of our shared humanity. Dejhare’s vision is to use her music to reach out to people on a very personal level. Her latest release, is the single “Trust My Love”. Dejhare is a gem. She has a truly wonderful voice and a unique disposition to match it.
One real look at her lyrics will show that this a woman with a clear message. She has a voice that is both angelic and deep and rich when it needs to be. Her lyrics follow the same path. Sometimes they seem to be simple and coy, and then they become introspective and profound.
What would happen if you took the stylings of pop music; the instrumentation, arranging, vocal approach, etc., and put thought, emotion and complexity into it? You would have this record. The use of synths here are clearly derived from the pop vernacular, and in a general sense are arranged as such, showcasing the vocals.
A closer listen reveals richer chord textures and a more complex rhythm and metric variation, than appears in the typical pop song. It’s the perfect pop fix without listening to garbage.
“Trust My Love” is haunting and delicious – an anthem to true love as Dejhare opens up her heart: “Don’t you ever doubt my love. You don’t have to feel worry. I am not playing any games. Don’t you ever doubt my heart. No need to feel insecure. I have no lies to tell.”
Dejhare is a genuine and effective music artist, because she tells things how they are. Her honesty is definitely an alluring factor to her music and as a music artist. The melody is soothing and the strings compliment her poignantly wistful voice which juxtaposes the indie-pop electronic vibe bubbling underneath.
In terms of music tastes: while I don’t mind the popular mainstream artists, it’s the indie artists that grab my attention. They are freer to be as unique and creative as they want without all the hassle and pressure of being forced to fit into a certain box that record label fat cats pressure them to mold into.
Dejhare forges that eccentricity and imaginative creativity that evokes a mixed aura of youthful-like innocence and adult world-weariness. It leads a simple love song like “Trust My Love” to have an almost fairytale aura. It’s the attitude and conviction of the narrator that sells this track, however, and Dejhare plays the role of the passionate lover with aplomb.
She does a great job maintaining her vocal tone and power throughout the entire track. It’s also time to give Dejhare credit for being a strong songwriter, because she seems to be improving with every single she releases. I won’t be surprised if this song picks up considerable pop airplay and makes a lasting impression among fans.
