Caglar Hepterlikci – “Parallel Journey”

Caglar Hepterlikci is a guitarist and music producer based in Istanbul, Turkey. Having an equally strong musical background as a bass player, he is able to seamlessly bridge the division between engineer and musician. Caglar founded his own independent production company. The artist offers workshops, high-quality backing tracks, and instrumentals for different projects. Caglar has performed and recorded with an array of professional artists, including Murat Dalkilic. His popular studio release includes “Secret Sky” and “Parallel Journey”, which was inspired by NASA’s photo release of the black hole.

On top of this, Caglar is also sponsored by Fibenare Guitars Co. and is a regular demonstrator with them. The artist is due to release a full-length album later this year, which will be a collection of contemporary guitar songs with an 80’s aesthetic.

“Parallel Journey” is an electronic music production showing another side of Caglar Hepterlikci’s artistic creativity. The musical arrangement is fantastic, and unlike many of his contemporaries, Cagler has a way of getting a narrative point across with the music alone.

You can really picture a story by listening to the music, with a little knowledge about the actual point of the song. Be prepared though because what makes Cagler so good while telling his story, is how the music penetrates your emotions if you let it. He is a real artist that has control over how things should sound to the listener.

This is a beautiful track – the production and engineering is incredible, the composition and performance is just phenomenal – lead and melodic lines mesh between instruments in such a way that the unison motifs sound like a single incredible multi-timbral instrument, while the banging rhythm section is tightly tuned beyond belief.

The percussively driven track is also warmly ambient and atmospheric with a repeating adlib vocal motif adding to the crescendo. The carefully crafted composition builds, ebbs and flows towards an energetic and propulsive rhythm.

I honestly want to say that in my opinion it is a great achievement when you first listen to a track and you are totally blown away. That is exactly what “Parallel Journey” achieved. Caglar Hepterlikci is a downright perfectionist and it comes across in his music and writing style.

I found myself listening to the song over and over to catch the subtle, perfectly placed sounds, instruments and fleeting effects, and I noticed that Cagler also shows a keen ability to play emotions like an instrument. This is definitely for putting on the headphones, and cranking it up loud.

A genuine delight to listen, and move to, “Parallel Journey” powerfully reveals the layers of Caglar Hepterlikci’s art. All that I can hope for is that he gets the respect and support that he so easily deserves and has worked so feverishly for.
