Anne Marie Bush – “Cry Me a River”

Anne Marie Bush in my humble opinion is one of the most versatile singer-songwriters that I have had the pleasure of discovering. She has a powerful, hauntingly beautiful voice, and she sure knows how to express her work in the most melodious and impacting way. She does not restrict herself to a single genre, crossing from one to another, which basically makes her very appealing to most listeners irrespective of which genre they belong to. Her styles range from RnB, Motown, Soul, and Pop, to Funk and Jazz. In her latest single, “Cry Me a River”, she comes through like a breath of fresh air in a world of highly intoxicated music.

“Cry Me a River” – an American standard written by Arthur Hamilton – is produced and arranged by the veteran American producer/arranger Richard Niles, and his band in London, and co-produced by the Danish artist Anne Marie Bush in her studio in Copenhagen.

Released via AMB RECORDS/AMB MUSIC, the track is globally available on all digital megastores and streaming platforms. The mature music fan will devour this new single in their droves, and if they don’t, then we must surely question the entertainment world that we live in.

“On Cry Me a River I wanted to get back to the jazzy roots of my career, where it all started,” exclaims Anne Marie Bush. “Even before I went to the Academy of Music in Denmark, where I studied for 4 years, I spent all my time singing and touring with my own jazz trio and several different well-known jazz-bands in Denmark. This song has followed me since the age of 18 and I have always loved it,” concludes the artist.

There is a compelling synergy between Anne Marie Bush’s singing, and the music accompanying her voice, on “Cry Me a River”, which could hardly have been better. The choice of instruments, the lush orchestration and the powerful brass arrangements – for which credit goes to Richard Niles and the band of top London studio players, featuring award-winning sax player Nigel Hitchcock – make this a very pleasurable experience. The quality of recording, as can be expected, is exemplary too.

The music that you listen to here, is in its most pure form, while Anne Marie Bush’s voice comes through with uncanny accuracy and nuance. She makes this version of “Cry Me a River” totally her own, backed by a swinging groove and powerful horns.

Anne Marie is an artist who knows the kind of mood she wants to create, allowing her to quickly envelop the listener inside her aura of radiant shining warmth. Anne Marie Bush is a talent that is rarely found in today’s mainstream world.

The exciting pace of this track is not only due to Anne Marie Bush’s choice of suave and swaggered delivery, but also to the arrangement that sparkles like a gem. Whilst there is no shortage of female singers in the world, there is definitely a top tier of excellent notables, with an innate ability to interpret the standards, write good original songs, and retain a willingness to create soulful, vibrant, and sophisticated music. Anne Marie Bush belongs to this elite league of performers.

Anne Marie Bush’s prestigious credits, reinforce her pedigree. Graduated from The Academy of Music in Denmark, the Danish-International singer-songwriter, recording artist, producer and author, located in DK, Copenhagen, has worked with the elite in the music industry, counting world famous artists, writers and producers from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Nashville and New York. She has been engaged to several international projects as a songwriter and vocal coach, and has released a series of original singles, EPs and music videos, as well as appearing on albums by major selling artists.
